There aren't a lot of delivery options in this neighborhood, so I took a chance with China Star. I love their online ordering. It's a big menu but it was easy to navigate. It didn't immediately recalculate pricing correctly when I deleted items, but it corrects it when you add another item. I wanted to hit the $30 threshold for the free General Tso Chicken. Food was delivered hot in about 30 minutes. Steamed Dumplings were huge and too doughy. I loved the vinegar sauce they're served with. No chopsticks were included. That should be standard. Special Lo Mein was decent. Lots of noodles but lacked flavor, veggies and meats. General Tso Chicken was good but when you click the link for the free order, you don't get to choose spice level. I like mine spicy! Szechuan Chicken was pretty good. Egg drop soup was standard. I didn't try the Special Fried Rice we ordered. I was too full. Overall, not a bad choice for when I'm too lazy to pick up take out.

Very disappointed. Chicken lo mein looked great but had no flavor at all. None. General Tao chicken was sweet. No spice. Not a good version. Ok if it was orange chicken but not acceptable as general tao. Pork fried rice had no pork. I dumped the pint to locate where the pork was. Boneless pork ribs were ok. Acceptable but not good. Overall typical marginal chinese place. Try hong kong cafe on 17th if you want real nyc chinese food. Not even a comparison.

Second time ordering from here, great both times! Not the best Chinese take out I've ever had, but the best one we've found so far around my house, and we've tried almost all of them. Super fast! They told us half and hour and it came a lil before that. The girl that answers the phone speaks perfect English so that's also a plus! Sometimes it can be hard to order at other places.

Finalllllyyy. A pretty good Chinese delivery/take out. After getting frustrated with no place for egg drop soup, spring rolls or hot & sour (my staple when feeling a cold coming on. ) I decided to try this place because it was only one with good reviews, albeit only 3, but better than others closer to me. Its off of Davie behind the new McD in an older strip shopping center. Its really tiny and not much to it, but the food and service speal for itself. The food was NOT greasy, no oil stains on wrapping.. seriously no grease or oil. Great, star number one for them. The owner (I think) is really on top of things, I ordered online and he called back to confirm everything. He had all the items, hot amd ready along with all sauces ready to go when arrived, no missing item. Check, star two earned. I got spring rolls and egg drop, friend got their Home Fried Rice (mixture of shrimp, chicken, veggies, egg) and their Chef Special, NY Strip Steak with broccoli, onion, bamboo shoots in brown sauce. They offer different free add on when you spend over 15 (easy to do with one entree and appetizer or soup) so he got egg rolls. I dont eat red meat often but tried so i could write this review. Steak was moist , juicy and substantial size along with crisp veggies and once again no oil floating in sauce. Check, star three. Same goes for egg rolls and spring rolls. Crispy, not too much dough w lots of fillings cooked just right, not mushy like some ive had. once again, not greasy at all even the egg rolls werent greasy (not sure how they did this if fried- they almost seem like they were baked). Fourth star earned! The egg drop was authentic, it was a bit thick for me so I added just a 1/2 cup broth to the one quart I purchased and it was perfect for me. It really depends on how ypu like your egg drop. it was one of the best i had outside NY and definately while living in FTL. It was not overly salty, just right. prices average for good Chinese. they have a huge menu and I will definately try their hot and sour next time. but I can say without a doubt this is now my go-to spot for Chinese. Must try.

This is my second time ordering from here. The food is pretty good! Not great but, its worth the price when you need your Chinese fix! I will say, what is NOT worth it is the WAIT for delivery! The 1st time I ordered I waited an hour and a half. When I placed the order I was told it would be 30-45 minute, which I have come to expect from most delivery places. When I called to check on my food after an hour, I was told that they were extremely busy and down a driver so, please be patient. It was after all a Friday night!! I was frustrated since I get a little HANGRY but, the food came 30 minutes later. I tried them again last night a Sunday, and had the SAME issue!! Again told 30-45 minutes and again told, they were extremely busy and down a driver. I just think that if that was the case, COMMUNICATE when I place my order. Don't wait for me to be STARVED and then expect that delivering whenever you feel like it is appropriate! I really don't think I will take my chances a 3rd time. Especially for sub-par food.

So disappointed! First time was very acceptable, standard pseudo-chinese takeout. Ordered delivery and took 2 hours, everything was cold, and just very tasteless. We just moved into our new place so needed something easy-made the mistake of ordering delivery again. Soup and General Tso chicken combo. Yuck. Soup was fair/average in flavor but arrived ice cold and solidified into a blob of cornstarchy gelatin. The chicken was the worst of its kind I have ever ordered. It was basically little nuggets of fat, skin, and unidentifiable parts of poultry underneath 2-3 layers of different batters and breading. A few very small scraps of dark meat thrown in for good measure. I would break apart the batter and there was literally no chicken meat. Gross. Anybody who likes food of this nature obviously has never had anything remotely acceptable to decent Chinese carry out/delivery. Won't be ordering from here again.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
